Hailed as "a very imaginative pianist, endowed with remarkable musicality and virtuosity," Italian pianist Pietro Freiburger enjoys a diverse career in music.

Mr. Freiburger regularly performs in various concert venues. As a pianist, he has performed in Italy (Giuseppe Verdi Hall, Teatro Vittoria, Church of Santa Pelagia and Reggia di Venaria in Turin), Canada (Claude Champagne Hall and Serge Garant Hall in Montreal) and the United States (Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City). As an organist he performed in Italy (on the prestigious Pinchi organs at the Basilica del Colle Don Bosco in Castelnuovo Don Bosco and at the Waldensian Temple in Turin) and Switzerland (on the prestigious Mascioni organs in Bellinzona and Giubiasco).

His recent accomplishments include 3rd prize in the 2023 Padova International Music Competition (Italy), 2nd prize in the 2023 Calabria Piano Competition (Italy), 3rd prize in the 2023 WPTA International Piano Competition (Finland), 2nd prize in the 2023 International Piano Competition Città di Orbetello (Italy), Honorable Mentions in the 2022 American Virtuoso International Music Competition (USA) and 2022 Radda Rise International Piano Competition (USA), 1st prize in the 2022 International Piano Competition Città di Albenga (Italy), 3rd prize in the 2021 International Piano Competition Città di Castiglione Falletto (Italy).

An avid collaborator, he is currently pursuing a multi-disciplinary chamber music project with saxophone player Jérémy David. The project revolves around the transcription for saxophone and piano of the main German lieder cycles for voice. The première of these cycles is presented to acclaim at Claude Champagne Hall in Montreal.

An active pedagogue and scholar, Pietro has taught piano, organ and theory at various schools as well as private and public institutions throughout Italy. He currently serves as Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Music at Université de Montréal. He also works as a liturgical organist and vocal coach in Italy and Canada. As a writer, Pietro writes CD and concert reviews for Canada's leading classical music magazine, La Scena Musicale.

Mr. Freiburger holds degrees from Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Turin, Italy, where he obtained his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in piano performance and his Bachelor of Music in organ performance. He then obtained the Advanced Diploma in piano performance at Université de Montréal, Canada, where he is currently attending the Doctor of Music degree in piano performance.

His most influential teachers were early mentors Elena Enrico, Sante Simioni and Maria Teresa Immormino; pianists Bruno Bosio, Mario Dalbesio, Caterina Vivarelli, Giacomo Fuga, Alessandro Ambrosoli and Jimmy Brière; organists Sante Simioni and Gianluca Cagnani; harpsichordists Michele Barchi, Anna Fontana and Stefano Demicheli; collaborative pianists Paolo Fiamingo and Francis Perron.

He has participated in masterclasses with pianists and organists of international acclaim such as José Mendes, Aleksandar Madzar, Michel Béroff, Nikita Fitenko, Roberto Plano, Christa Butzberger, Andrea Lucchesini (piano) and Enrico Viccardi, Michael Radulescu, Ton Koopman and Peter Westerbrinck (organ).
