Luis Quintana (Puerto Rico, 1988) studied composition with Alfonso Fuentes at the Music Conservatory of Puerto Rico, where he was awarded the conservatory’s composition award and the Roberto I. Ferdman prize in 2010. He continued his studies in Pairs at the École normale de musique, supported by the Zaleski Foundation, where he received his composition diploma in 2012 and won unanimously the first prize in orchestration (2013) and analysis (2014) at the Schola Cantorum.

Later, he followed Jean-Luc Hervé’s composition course and Yan Maresz’ class on new technologies at the conservatory in Boulogne-Billancourt from where he received his diploma with honours in 2016 before integrating the Ircam Cursus in 2017 - 2018. He holds a masters degree in composition from the National Conservatory in Pairs (CNSMDP) where he studied with Gérard Pesson. During this time he was awarded various prices by the Société Générale, the Mayer foundation and the France foundation. 

His music is performed by ensembles like Ensemble Intercontemporain and TM+, and has taken part in festivals like Festival Manifest and Festival Klasik. His scores are currently published by BabelScores
