Kyle Zhu is a talented pianist from New Jersey with an array of accomplishments at just 12 years old. He started playing the piano at the age of 5, but it wasn't until he began studying with Dr. Julia Lam at the age of 7 that his passion for music really took off. Kyle has won many awards and accolades in both regional and international piano competitions. In 2023 alone, he won a Gold Prize in the VIVO International Music Competition, a Grand Prize in the APEX International Music Competition, 1st Place in the NJMEA Annual Piano Competition, 2nd place in Clara Schumann International Competition, and 3rd Place in solo performance as well as 1st Place in the duet category at the NJMTA Young Musician Competition. He has also won many other awards, including 2nd Place in the 2021 Bellagrande International Music Competition, Gold Prize in the 2018 IMPACT Young Artist Competition, and 1st Place in the 2017 Elite International Music Competition. Kyle has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall and Merkin Concert Hall and has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists like Katie Liu and Victor Rosenbaum. In addition to piano, he plays the alto saxophone, performs in a jazz band, and volunteers his time playing music at local senior centers. When he's not playing music, Kyle enjoys reading, playing tennis, woodcrafting, and spending time on his 3D printer.
