Yang Jianpeng is currently studying at Baylor University's School of Music under Dr. Shijun Wang, pursuing a Master of Music degree. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Piano Department of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in China, where he studied under Dr. Yang Ding. In 2023, he achieved outstanding results and was admitted to Baylor University's School of Music with a full scholarship and a graduate assistantship.
As a solo pianist, he has participated in competitions, masterclasses, festivals, and concerts in the United States, Europe, Japan, and China, achieving significant success in various events. His accolades include: First Prize in the Youth Division of the 31st International Young Musicians Competition in Barletta, Italy; Gold Medal in the Chinese Division of the 26th American Open Competition, First Prize in the American Finals, and Outstanding Gold Award winner; First Prize in the Professional Youth Division of the 2020 Corvino International Piano Competition; Gold Award in the Zhejiang Division of the 2021 Second Youth Pianist Competition and the 13th Chinese Music "Golden Bell Award"; and First Place in the Baylor University School of Music Concerto Competition in 2023. His performances have taken him all over, including performing with the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra in 2015 for the "Yellow River Piano Concerto," performing in the "26th American Open Finals" in Oakland, USA, in 2018, and participating in the closing concert of the "Tyrolean International Summer Piano Arts Festival" in Innsbruck in July of the same year. He also plans to perform Tchaikovsky's First Piano Concerto with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra in April 2025.
As a collaborative pianist, he was invited in 2019 to serve as the official collaborative pianist for the first Yamaha Cup Chinese Clarinet Competition, receiving unanimous acclaim. He has collaborated with various instruments and participated in competitions, winning the Excellent Accompaniment Award in the Zhejiang Division of the "6th Zhejiang Youth Singer Competition" and the "12th Chinese Music Golden Bell Award Vocal Competition" in 2019, as well as the Excellent Accompaniment Award in the Zhejiang Division of the "13th Chinese Music Golden Bell Award Vocal Competition" in 2021. He was invited to serve as the official collaborative pianist for the first and second "Mosa Saxophone Summer Camp" in China in 2022 and 2023, and he has received praise from professors and students for his graduate assistant work at Baylor University since 2023.
As a chamber music collaborator, he formed a chamber music group with classmates during his undergraduate studies. He participated in performances and various competitions, achieving several successes, including First Prize in the Chamber Music Division of the 2020 International Music Competition in Fasan, Italy, First Place in the Chamber Music Division of the Second "Jinshan Award" at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, and First Prize in the First International Chamber Music Competition at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.
In terms of personal qualifications, he has received several scholarships during his university years, including the full scholarship from Baylor Music School in 2023-2025, the First-Class Scholarship in the Piano Department of Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in 2019-2020, and the Comprehensive First-Class Scholarship in the Piano Department in 2017-2018. He has also had the privilege of receiving guidance from renowned artists such as Oxana Yablonskaya, Georg Friedrich Schenck, Pamela Paul, Susanne Grutzmann, Krassimira Jordan, Thomas Kreuzberger, Misha Namirovsky, Tang Zhe, Shao Dan, Zhou Ting, and Li Zhe during his studies.
