14-year-old Micah Chan is a multi-talented musician from Illinois. As a pianist, he currently studies with Christina Tio and Winston Choi and is regular prizewinner at many festivals and competitions, including the Society of American Musicians, Steinway, and Illinois State Music Teachers Association.

Micah’s exceptional piano skills are showcased through his frequent recital performances and masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Alan Chow, Frank Wibaut, Jerome Lowenthal, and James Giles. His recent repertoire includes Bach’s French Suite No. 6 in E, BWV 817; Beethoven’s Sonatas No. 25 in G, Op. 79 and No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 13; and Chopin’s Fantaisie-Impromptu in C-sharp Minor, Op. 66 and Étude Op. 10, No. 3.

In addition to piano, Micah is also an avid cellist and composer. Micah began playing cello at the age of 5 and currently studies with Avi Friedlander at the Music Institute of Chicago. In 2023, he was the State and East Central Division winner of the MTNA Composition Competition. 

Music is just one of many forms of personal expression for Micah, who also has passions for public speaking, Science Olympiad, hands-on creative projects, and graphic design.
