Darius Preuss

Third Prize Winner of Category 3

 
 

Darius Preuss was born in April 2004 as the 3rd child of Persian-German parents and started playing violin at the age of 4 at the music school of Herne with Yeling Yuan and later in Cologne with Benjamin Ramirez. When he was 11 years old, he started studying at the conservatory “Hochschule für Musik und Tanz“ in Cologne in the “Pre College Cologne“ with Prof. Ute Hasenauer. Since 2010, he won many first prizes at national and international competitions such as DTKV competition, Jugend Musiziert (regional, state and national level), Lions Music Prize, Concorso Internazionale di Musica Città di Stresa in Italy, Flame competition in Paris, and Hamburg Instrumental competition with a special award. He also earned a lot of experience with playing in orchestra as a Member of the Herne Symphony Orchestra, the NRW Youth Orchestra, and as a concertmaster in the Kinderorchester NRW.

In 2019, he was chosen to be member of the National Youth Orchestra of Germany. Since his early childhood, he has performed publicly, for example as a soloist with Herne Symphony Orchestra, Bochum Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Louis Spohr, New Philharmonic Westphalia.

In September 2016, he was invited to play at Schloss Bellevue in front of the President of Germany. Additionally, he has played in many of the great concert halls of Germany, such as Cologne Philharmonie, Essen Philharmonie, Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and many others. He made his international debut in 2018 with a concert tour in Italy and Switzerland along with another international concert tour in Italy in 2019. Masterclasses and personal meetings with Petty Copec, Arabella Steinbacher and Zakhar Bron left an big impact on him.
