Chinese-born pianist Yuqiao Chen began playing piano at the age of 5 under the guidance of his first teacher, Youlan Wang, who taught him for the first eight years of his piano journey in Chengdu, China. After moving to Beijing in 2015, he continued his lessons with Tong Shen at the Affiliated High School of China Conservatory of Music. Afterward, he was essentially self-taught for two years while living in Nepal. Since 2018, Yuqiao has been studying with Irina Novikova, the head of keyboard studies at Shrewsbury International School, and is a student at BJP Elite Academy Private School in Pattaya, Thailand.

Within a short period of time, Yuqiao has many awards, prizes, and scholarships. He also passed the Trinity LTCL Piano Exams with distinction when he was 13 years old. His successes have led to performances as a guest pianist in many of the world’s great halls throughout Berlin, Prague, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Moscow, Shanghai, and Bangkok. In the summer of 2022, he performed with the Bangkok Charity Orchestra.

Aside from piano, Yuqiao also studies clarinet with former London Symphony Orchestra clarinetist, Chris Craker. He passed the ABRSM Grade with highest scores in Thailand and was awarded the Bronze Medal of the Children’s Category in the 2021 Witold Friemann International Clarinet Competition.
