Matthew Ho

Biography

Cellist Matthew Ho is a student of Dr. Clara Kim at Juilliard Pre-College. A 2025 YoungArts Winner with Distinction, he was also a prizewinner at the Johansen International Competition, a semifinalist in the Stulberg International String Competition, and a finalist in the MTNA National Competition. Recently, Matthew performed as a soloist with the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony as the winner of the Juilliard Pre-College Cello Concerto Competition. Previously, he has appeared as a soloist with the Camerata New Jersey Orchestra, Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, and New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra after winning their respective concerto competitions. He has also been featured twice on NPR’s From the Top Daily Joy series. His additional honors include Grand Prize in both the Young Soloist International Music Competition and the New York Laureate International Music Competition, as well as First Prize in the Adelphi Young Artist Competition.

Matthew has served as principal cellist of the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony. An avid chamber musician, his ensemble, the Vivere Trio, was a finalist in the Coltman Chamber Music Competition. Over the past few summers, Matthew has attended the Perlman Music Program and Morningside Music Bridge, where he studied with artists including Itzhak Perlman, Laurence Lesser, and Paul Katz, among others.
