Iris Hur

Grand Prize Winner of Category 3

 

15-year-old violist Iris Hur began studying when she was seven years old. Since the age of 11, she has been enrolled in the Juilliard Pre-College Division under the tutelage of Molly Carr and Yi-Fang Huang. 

In 2018, Iris made her debut at the Weill Recital Hall with the Korean Symphony Orchestra under conductor Jinhwan Kim. Since then, she has taken the stage at numerous venues including Perelman Stage of Carnegie Hall with the New York Youth Symphony, Peter Jay Sharp with the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony, and Alice Tully Hall through the Chamber Music Society of the Lincoln Center Program. As a soloist, she has performed at Merkin Hall, Dimenna Center, and Kaufman Center.

Since the summer of 2021, Iris has attended the Perlman Music Program, where she has been intensively studying chamber music, orchestral music, and solo performance under the tutelage of Itzhak Perlman, Merry Peckham, Kirsten Doctor, and Carol Rodland. Additionally, Iris was awarded full scholarships to attend the Heifetz Institute for the Program of the Exceptionally Gifted in both 2017 and 2019.
