Katheryn (Katie) Chan, age 14, is a dedicated young pianist from Chandler, Arizona. She began studying piano at the age of four with her longtime teacher, Hong Zhu, and has spent the past decade cultivating her artistry through disciplined study and competitive success.
Katie is a two-time Arizona State Winner of the Music Teachers National Association Competition for both 2023 and 2024, and the 2024 Arizona winner in the Opus Music Competition, Piano Category III. Her talent has also been recognized on the international stage with a Third Prize in the 2024 ENKOR International Music Competition and a semifinalist placement in the 2024 Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition. She has earned First Prize in numerous other competitions, including the Steinway/Avanti Piano Competition, United States International Music Competition, Galaxie Y. International Competition, Arizona Young Artists Competition, and the Young Musicians Concerto Competition organized by the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestras.
In addition to piano, Katie enjoys reading, writing, and playing tennis. Her love of music continues to deepen as she explores new repertoire and performance opportunities, and she looks forward to expanding her musical journey in the years ahead.
