As the winner of the Utah Symphony's 64th Salute to Youth Concerto Competition, pianist Natalie Sun became the youngest soloist in the orchestra’s history at just eight years old, performing the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24. This milestone marked the beginning of a rapidly emerging career.
Natalie has since appeared as a soloist with the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra, the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra, the American Fork Symphony, and the Ogden Chamber Orchestra, among others. She has earned First Prize in numerous state, regional, and national competitions, including the 2025 Utah State University PianoFest Competition, the 2023 and 2024 Salt Lake Piano Competition, and the Ogden Piano Festival and Competition in both the solo and concerto divisions. Most recently, she was awarded First Prize in the Great Composers International Piano Competition for Best Prokofiev Performance.
Natalie began studying piano at the age of four with her mother and now studies with Jihea Hong-Park of Brigham Young University. She is currently a third-grade student at Challenger School in Salt Lake City.
Outside of music, Natalie has a deep love for animals and aspires to become both a concert pianist and a veterinarian.
